FAQ

How do therapists, psychiatrists, and psychologists differ?

Our team at Alba Wellness consists of therapists who provide psychotherapy (LPCC, LMFT, LCSW, and associate therapists) and not psychologists or psychiatrists.

Psychiatrists are doctors who provide psychotropic medication. Psychologists focus on psychological testing.

Our staff comprises licensed or registered Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors. We all have at least a master’s degree and over 3000 hours of supervised training. Many have specialized training in trauma, couples, and adolescent therapy.

Do you provide in-person therapy?

We provide most of our sessions virtually. We have limited availability for in-person services. Therefore, please contact us for the current availability of these services.

We have two offices in the North Los Angeles area:

Both locations have ample parking.

When are you open?

Our administrative office is open Monday through Thursday, 9 – 5:30, and Fridays, 8:30 – 4:00.

How do I get started?

Please book a consultation with our Admissions Coordinator  or call us at (818) 741-2906. Please have your insurance information and any questions you want us to answer. Please set aside 10 minutes after the consultation to complete our agency enrollment forms.

Why do I need to fill out enrollment forms?

Our enrollments are vital as they contain legal consent forms and agreements allowing us to provide therapeutic services. Forms detail confidentiality and parameters around your privacy and health information. They explain our agency policies to ensure transparency and understanding so you can confidently move forward.

Why do I need to put a credit card in your system?
A credit card is required to collect copays, coinsurance, deductibles, or any fees accrued as detailed by our Late Cancellation and No Show Policy. Your information is stored securely in our electronic health record system, and you can always contact our billing department with any billing concerns. If you don’t have a credit card, please get in touch with our office for other payment methods.
What are your cancellation and no-show policies?

You have 24 hours to cancel your session. Otherwise, a late cancellation or no-show fee, the total session cost, will apply. However, we understand life happens and encourage you to contact our billing department to discuss any fees.

You can cancel or reschedule your appointment with a 24-hour notice. You can contact your therapist directly. Alternatively, you can leave a message or text our main line – (818) 741-2906. You may be subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to your entire session.

What insurance do you accept?

Why doesn’t insurance cover couples therapy?

Our couples work follows best practices. You are the client, and our sessions are 75-90 minutes. Insurance mandates that we diagnose and provide “family therapy” on behalf of only one of you, creating a conflict of interest for our couples therapists. Insurance also limits the session to 55 minutes.

Why doesn’t insurance cover Ketamine-Assisted Therapy?

Ketamine-Assisted Therapy is an exciting but new treatment usually not covered by commercial insurance. We partner with Journey Medical to provide medical support, and your therapist will be with you during the dosage and integration sessions.

To learn more, please book a free 15-minute consultation with one of our certified Ketamine-Assisted Therapy providers.

Do you prescribe medication?
No. We collaborate with many psychiatrists and can refer you for an evaluation.
